Commonly used Dashas

Panchottari: This is prescribed when ascendant rises in cancer sign and also cancer Dvadashāńśa. Count from Anuradha up to the Janma Nakshatra and gap the number by 7. The remainder indicates the Dasha. The order for the Dasha Lords is Sun 12y, mercury 13y, Saturn 14y, Mars 15y, Venus 16y, moon 17y and Jupiter 18y.

Shatabdika: This is recommended when ascendant is Vargottama.  Count from Revati to the Janma Nakshatra and divide this number by 7. The remainder indicates the Dasas. The order of the Dasha Lords is Sun 5y, moon 5y, Venus 10y, mercury 10y, Jupiter 20y, mars 20y and Saturn 30y.

Chaturashiti Sama: This is recommended when 10th lord occupies the tenth house.  Count from Svati to the Janma Nakshatra and divide this number by 7. The remainder indicates the Dasas. The order of the Dasha Lords is Sūn, moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. In this scheme, the Dasha duration of each planet is 12 years.

Dvisaptati Sama: This is recommended when ascendant occupies either the ascendant or the seventh house.  Count from Mula to the Janma Nakshatra and divide the number by 8. The remainder indicates the Dasas. The order of the Dasha Lords is Sun, moon, mars, and mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and Rahu. In this scheme, the Dasha duration of each planet is 9 years.

Shastihayani Dasa: This is recommended when Sun occupies the ascendant. The order of Dasha Lords in this system is, as follows. Sun, moon, mars, mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and Rahu. The following shows the Nakshatras, falling under the various Dasha Lords. The Dasas of Jupiter, Sun and Mars are of 10 years. The remaining planets have Dashas of 6 years each

Shattrimshat Sama: This is recommended when birth occurs during day time and ascendant rises in Sun Hora, or birth occurs during night time and ascendant rises in moon’s Hora. Count from Shravana to the Janma Nakshatra and divide the number by 8. The remainder indicates the Dasas. The order of the Dasha Lords is moon 1y, Sun 2y, Jupiter 3y, Mars 4y, mercury 5y, Saturn 6y, Venus 7y and Rahu 8y.

Chakra Dasa: This is general purpose phalita dasa and applicable to all cases.  For night birth, the Dasa commences from ascendant sign. For night birth the Dasa commences from the ascendant lord sign. If the birth is during evening, the Dasa commences from the sign falling in the 2nd house. Dasa period: The Dasa of each sign is 10 years

Kaalachakra Dasa: This is sign and Nakshatra based dasa and appropriate to all horoscopes. This is known to be a radiant dasa for timing some exceptional occasions. This is a broad dasa framework dependent on the exact area of the moon in a Nakshatra Pada. In this technique, the nakshatras are grouped into Savya (zodiacal) and Apasavya (turn around) and two specific sign are recognized to be specific Deha and Jeeva. Chara Dasa: This is general purpose phalita signdasa and applicable to all cases. Yogardha Dasa: This is a sign based Dasa and the span of a Dasa is the average of Chara and Sthira Dasas.  The Dasa commences from the stronger of the ascendant or the Seventh house.  Like Sthira Dasa, it moves in zodiacal direction if the commencing sign is Odd and in reverse direction if it is Even.

Lagna Kendradi Dasa: This is a sign based Dasa system. The Dasa commences from the stronger of the ascendant or the seventh sign.  Like Sthira Dasa, it moves in zodiacal direction if the commencing sign is Odd and in reverse direction if it is Even. There are two variants of this Dasa.

Shula Dasa: This is a sign based Ayur Dasa system. This is particularly useful for timing ill-health, dangers to life and death. The Dasa commences from the sign falling in the stronger of the 2nd or 8th.  It moves in zodiacal direction if the commencing sign is Odd and in reverse direction if it is Even. Dasa span: Like Sthira Dasa, 7, 8 or 9 years are assigned to Chara, Sthira and Dvisvabhava Rāśis.  In this Dasa, death is likely to occur in the Dasa of the strongest Maraka sign.

.Manduka Dasa: This is a sign based Dasa framework. This is especially valuable for timing struggle, clashes, threats to life and death. The Dasa begins from the sign falling in the strongest of ascendant or Seventh house. It moves zodiacal way if the beginning sign is Odd and in turn around bearing on the off chance that it is Even. In this plan, the dasa progress to the third sign counted from the previous one. Dasa length: Like Sthira Dasa, 7, 8 or 9 years are relegated to Chara, Sthira and Dvisvabhava Rāśis.

Drig dasa: This is a sign based Phalita Dasa framework. This is especially valuable for timing spiritual fulfillments. Sign falling in the ninth house. Sign aspecting the ninth house. Balance of dasa at birth: Same as Vimshottari i.e., from terminated segment of moon in the Janma NakshatraTara Dasa: This is a nakshatra based Phalita Dasa framework and is like Vimshottari Dasa. This is a contingent dasa and is prescribed just when there are sign in the quadrant. The strongest planet in the quadrant starts it.
